Give Me Jungler and I'll Carry, Thank You - Chapter 11
“Brother Yin, thank you so much. I–I don’t even know what to say. I see you as my brother. In the future, if you tell me to go east, I won’t go west!”
Xiao Di, who had thoroughly humiliated Cole, had joyful and teary eyes. Last season, Cole’s absolute dominance in the bottom lane and intentional suppression nearly drove Xiao Di to despair. Since then, the name “Cole” has not only cast a shadow over him but also instilled a deep fear. If he wanted to make further progress, he had to overcome the formidable obstacle that Cole represented.
This was the greatest taboo for professional players, to lose before the battle even started.
During the pre-match tactical analysis, Yin Yu specifically mentioned that the first blood taken by the four teammates’ ambush should go to the shooter, allowing Xiao Di to gain an advantage in the bottom lane. Later, in their efforts to allow him to secure Cole’s head, Chu Ke and Yin Yu were nearly killed by the enemy’s tower. Xiao Di was aware of all these and was deeply moved. His heart was filled with warmth, like a surging tide.
“A–Also, Brother Chu and Mother, thank you!”
In order to help him overcome his nightmares and face his fears, his teammates spared no effort to assist him.
“Who’s helping you? This is all for the sake of practicing my new strategy. Enough, enough, a man shouldn’t be crying.”
“Eh, eh, eh! Why are you crying? Are you really crying? Our great Xiao Di, we’re still in the middle of a match. Can you control yourself?”
Unexpectedly, after just a few words, Xiao Di’s eyes really turned red, leaving Yin Yu somewhat flustered. With his left hand killing a monster, his right hand patted Xiao Di’s head awkwardly. It was a complete change from his arrogant demeanor earlier on.
“Don’t think too much, focus on the game.”
Chu Ke stared at the screen and noticed Xiao Di’s slightly choked voice. A trace of helplessness flashed in his gray pupils.
Still a kid.
He was indeed still a teen. Being four to five years younger on average than the rest of the group, Xiao Di received special treatment from the team.
In this match, it was the team’s support that helped him secure the advantage against Cole. If he wanted to compete for the title of the national’s number one ADC, Xiao Di would have to work hard in the bottom lane, securing each minion one by one.
“Don’t celebrate too early. Best-of-five. This is only our first one. Keep it up.”
Watching Xiao Di, the Great Demon felt a sense of inexplicable pride as if his own sapling had finally grown. However, maintaining discipline was still necessary.
“Got it, Brother Chu.”
Xiao Di nodded, realizing that they were still in the middle of a match. He could only imagine how his teary moment would become a hot topic on Weibo after the game.
Oh god, that’s embarrassing!
VW’s ADC lamented in his heart, hoping to carry the game more and salvage some of his remaining dignity.
Currently, Xiao Di’s score was 3/0/0, and it has not even been five minutes since the game started. After that beautiful ambush in the bottom lane, several members of VW successfully secured the first small dragon. The advantage kept snowballing, eventually leading to an unstoppable avalanche.
Leveraging his lead in gold, Yin Yu occasionally roamed to the bottom lane. He did not necessarily kill Cole every time, but he happily chipped away his health to keep him on edge. It made Cole helplessly furious. VW’s impressive plays completely messed up SG’s rhythm.
The first game had little suspense. SG was completely overwhelmed in the early game, so they lost their composure in the later game and fell behind in character development as well. The first point quickly fell into VW’s hands. While SG’s morale plummeted, VW became more and more spirited, growing fiercer as the match progressed.
If the first game showcased VW’s flexibility, then the second and third games demonstrated the chemistry between Rafael and Phea as the flawless mid-jungler duo.
Rafael’s control over the entire jungle was terrifying enough, but now, with Phea perfectly keeping up with his pace, the enemy jungle became VW’s playground. Not to mention the dragons, they were like domesticated pets. Especially in the last match, the two worked together to execute a perfect counter-gank. Regardless of whether they were Rafael’s or Phea’s fans, people watching the livestream at that moment, were in awe.
“Nice!!! That counter-gank was unbelievable. Early netizens had speculated that if sworn enemies Rafael and Phea became teammates, they would dominate the professional league. It seems like this speculation might not be just a rumor!”
“I don’t know how to describe it, but I believe that all of us watching the game share the same feeling… Perhaps the era of VW’s mid-jungler duo is about to begin.”
“Let’s congratulate VW for their 3-0 victory in the Winter Championship!”
The rotating lights floated gracefully in the air as the venue lights turned on.
“Not a bad performance.”
Xiao Di cheerfully took off his headset and bounced around in front of his teammates. Chu Ke could not help but praise him with a stern face.
“Look at Cole’s expression. I think he might have been driven to despair by our Brother Yin.”
Mother’s face was radiant with pride. This match had allowed him and Xiao Di to vent their frustrations. “Who’s the top ADC in the national server? In a couple of years, that title will definitely belong to our Di Di!”
“I’ll say this first. If you become the top ADC, then I’ll be the top support too. If one succeeds, their support must have done well.”
During the post-match handshake, SG’s players had a look of defeat on their faces. Losing 3-0 in the first match of the Winter Championship was truly humiliating.
“That Cole has a twisted mind.”
A teen in black leisurely took out a piece of gum from his jacket’s pocket, threw it into his mouth, and lazily scanned the SG players’ dejected figures as they left.
The public might not know much about SG’s Cole, but within the industry, there were numerous secrets about him. He was known for his arrogance, suppression of newcomers, and dislike of anyone more talented than him. In the previous season, there was a particularly talented shooter who joined SG as a substitute, but Cole made sure he was driven away with underhanded methods. There was also the notorious incident last season of an affair scandal, where he left a fan pregnant and was unwilling to take responsibility. Even if SG officials tried to whitewash the situation with numerous announcements, the truth was clear to those in the industry.
Yin Yu never considered himself a righteous person, but he had nothing but disdain for such depraved individuals.
“Not bad, boys. You shaved my head bald with your victory in the first match.”
Gou Yao walked down and waited for them in the exit passage. His eyes squinted on his plump face in a thin line, “That expensive hotpot was worth it, after all. You guys sure gave me face.”
Earlier, near the water dispenser, Gou Yao had taken pride in front of SG’s coach. Now, he walked with a lightness in his step.
“Let’s go. We won today, so who’s treating?”
Everyone’s gaze silently shifted to Chu Ke, who was walking at the back, his head lowered as he massaged his fingers. The atmosphere fell into an awkward silence.
“Wait, wait, wait, not Brother Chu this time. Let me treat everyone.”
Xiao Di scratched his head, his delicate face brimming with joy. Since the match ended, he has been wearing this foolishly happy expression.
“Let’s go quickly, then. We still have to review the game later.”
Mother was also filled with the same sense of pride that Chu Ke felt before. After all, he was the support. The ADC was like a child he had nurtured in the bottom lane. Now that the child had succeeded, he was also delighted as a mother.
The VW team members elbowed and pushed through the crowd of fans at the entrance, quickly boarding the team bus.
